   <subfield code="a">Among the published researches about social acceptance of children with special needs, little is known and focused to the Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students. The intent of this study is to uncover the attitudes, behaviors, and other factors such as functional hearing and academic behavior of DHH students that make them liked and disliked by their hearing classmates. Furthermore, teacher roles in promoting social acceptance are also explored.&#13;

This study investigated a total of 78 senior high students, 38 are DHH and 40 are Hearing, from two inclusive senior high schools in Metro manila. Social Distance Scale revealed that during group works, Hearing students scored an average social acceptance while the DHH students got a neutral score. Classroom discussion and free time got average scores as well. The most acceptable DHH students formed cliques with Hearing students and found to be females and leaders. The attitudes and behaviors of well-liked DHH students are those who are sociable, team-player and competent. On the other hand, undesirable traits of the least accepted DHH students are insensitive and have poor team work skills. Surprisingly, DHH students’ social skills and personality appeared to have greater impact that influence hearing students’ choices and not their functional hearing and academic behavior. Inclusive classroom teachers shared their best practices in promoting social acceptance.</subfield>
