Description
Summary:Pateros is known for its "balut" industry, which has become its identity and source of livelihood throughout the years. However due to environmental degradation and urbanization, the industry faces a decline. Despite the challenges, there is a strong call and efforts from the local government to keep this industry alive and to provide livelihood to the residents. The Culinary Heritage Center aims to be a catalyst in the revival and preservation of the balut industry of Pateros and in strengthening its local economy that will provide spaces for education, collaboration, livelihood, and community congregation. This project aims to improve and promote existing industries in Pateros through a culinary facility that will not only highlight its local products but also provide education to its residents and equip them with new skills and livelihood. By providing spaces for education, it aims to help preserve and pass on to next generations the traditional balut industry and other culinary practices. By developing the facility, it will encourage the community to celebrate its own culture and products. Furthermore, it will provide an avenue to showcase these products and utilize it in advancing the town's local economy. Lastly, with the rapid development of residential and commercial establishments, there is a need to develop a space that will serve as a center for community and cultural activities as well as place for recreation that will reflect the identity of Pateros.
