<subfield code="a">The archives heritage serves as the wealth of every community, containing the most noteworthy forms of expression of the historical contribution made by its people to world culture. Its value stems from the esteem as the people rightly hold a component of cultural identity (UNESCO, 1988).However, interest in the past has never been greater, thus, the importance of archives is not always realized. The very realization of the importance of archives can pose a danger. Archives materials can be neglected, sometimes put up for sale, broken up, lost to the country or, still worse, sold abroad. Archives are permanent, unique, and authentic records kept for their continuing value (Coles, 1988). These include historical documents which can convey information about the past human activity, and which can supplement and clarify oral traditions.</subfield>

<subfield code="a">The study seeks to identify the archives materials pertaining to Pampanga in two cities and first class municipalities of Pampanga. It also aims to describe the archives practices adopted for these materials and to recommend the accepted and standard practices of archives administration. The descriptive approach of research design was employed in the study. Ocular inspections, personal interviews and distribution of questionnaire were conducted to know the history, scope and content of archives practices adapted to archives materials in various collecting archives institutions in Pampanga. Print and online sources were used to identify the standard and accepted practices in archives.</subfield>

<subfield code="a">Based on the findings, Pampanga has a rich culture and history that could be traced from their archives resources. The JDN Center for Kapampangan Studies in Holy Angel University maintains comprehensive collections on Pampanga resources, aiming to acquire all copies of Kapampangan materials in archives and libraries in Spain, Manila and other parts of the world. The Archdiocese of San Fernando Museum and Archives has extensive collections on church records. The study also reveals most of the institutions collecting archives in the cities and first class municipalities of Pampanga did not have sufficient knowledge and training in archives administration which hinders the proper administration of archival resources. Consequently, archives practices adapted to their archival records do not conform to the standard and accepted practices on archives administration. This research led to the provision of recommendations for the standard and accepted archives principles and practices to be employed by the institutions. These may in turn result to the preservation and promotion of the Pampanga archives heritage.</subfield>
