   <subfield code="a">The objectives of this study are to assess the training and information needs of the faculty, researchers, staff and ESEP scholars of the College of Science as to their use of the Computational Science Research Center and to design, develop and evaluate a web-based user orientation program which includes policies on proper use of the network, facilities and software packages available to maximize the use of the Center.</subfield>

First the assessment of the specific user training needs of the faculty, researchers, staff and ESEP scholars of the College of Science as to their use of the CSRC facilities.  Random sampling was used in selecting the population.  Needs assessment questionnaires were distributed.  Data were gathered, tabulated and analyzed using Statistical Analysis Software.  The results showed the respondents' interest in the use of a web-based user orientation program as a medium of information dissemination and learning.</subfield>

   <subfield code="a">Development of the web-based user orientation program is the second phase of the study.  Design was conceptualized, materials were consolidated and authoring software packages were selected to suit the requirements of the layout, concept, learning materials and information content of the web site.  Immediately after the developed program was tested to be properly working.  The research design used was experimental design Pretest &amp; Posttest.  Evaluation questionnaires were distributed to 172 randomly selected faculty, researchers, staff and ESEP scholars of the College of Science.  Of these 60 were able to take the Pretest and the Posttest.  The paired difference T-test was used to determine the difference, if any, after the respondents' reading the web-based user-orientation program.  Data were gathered and tabulated using Microsoft Excel and analyzed using the Statistical Analysis Software.  Pearson product moment correlation coefficient was used to measure any significant correlation among variables.</subfield>

   <subfield code="a">Data from the needs assessment questionnaires were presented in tabular form showing the frequency and their corresponding percentages.  It was supplemented  with linear graphs in the prsentation of the findings both in the Pretest and Posttest as well as in the system evaluation.  Actual data generated from the Statistical Analysis Software was included in th Appendix for cross-referencing.  The results of the study was found to be significant since the p value of the pretest and posttest is .0001 which means that there was a significant difference in the results of the Posttest after the respondents' reading of the developed web-based user orientation program.  On the other hand, the results of the system evaluation revealed that the project was useful, easy to use and respondents find it more convenient.</subfield>
