   <subfield code="a">Kundiman is the Philippines' love song. It reflects the emotions of the Filipinos and is rich with history--another means of connecting to the sentiment of Filipino culture. Through the Department of Education, the K12 Implementation in the Philippines last 2013 had required the teaching of kundiman in the music curriculum for Grade 7 students nationwide. Currently, with the topic being a part of basic education,  there is an apparent lack of educational materials created for teaching it. One of the factors is because it is a relatively new topic, and that the current available exiting materials and programs that discuss it are mostly catered to the current available existing materials and programs that discuss it are mostly catered to the musically experiences. MAPEH teachers in the schools are not experts on the topic and therefore have difficulty in teaching kundiman. Because of this, there is difficulty amongst themselves in discussing kundiman to their student, most especially in the case of public schools. Students also have the trouble of appreciating kundiman due to its melancholic, slow-paced characteristic which is out of their interests. An exact case of this situation is in Timoteo Paez Integrated High School. As a result of this problem, the proponent proposes &quot;Halina't Umawit! Mga Pambatang Kundiman&quot;, a book-series which contains a story and activity book accompanied with animations that promote kundiman to Timoteo Paez Elementary Schoo, the intended pilot school, for students ages 6-9 years old, in such a way that the schoolchildren may understand its concepts and songs through dynamic storytelling and identifying with the characters. Its aim is to help them foster an appreciation of kundiman at an earlier age.</subfield>
