With the increasing amount of clothing accessible to students, it is necessary that dorms address students' needs related to the care for their clothing. This descriptive study aimed to analyze female dormers' needs related to care for clothing. Specifically, it identified and described the clothes they keep in the dorm and their care and usage practices related to care for clothing, described existing facilities and rules related to care for clothing in selected dormitories, described the dormers' needs, concerns and alternative solutions related to their care for clothing, and gave recommendations for possible ways to address these concerns. Seventy respondents from five dormitories in a selected state university were asked to answer an online survey. Three students and one administrator from each dorm were also interviewed. Observation of existing dorm facilities related to care for clothing was also conducted. Data showed that most of the dormers' clothing items are used once and laundered once a week. Items are commonly washed in toilet sinks, sent to laundry-persons for service or to laundromats. Only three out of the five dorms have limited laundry and drying areas. Whenever needed, items were dried inside the dormers' rooms. Most of the dormers do not iron their clothes in the dorm since none of the five dorms have ironing facilities. In fact, ironing clothes is prohibited. Four of the five dorms have limited storage area for clothes while one does not have any facility at all for storage. Dormers keep their clothes inside their travelling bags or bring their own storage boxes or racks. The study established that there is a need for better facilities related to the dormers' care for clothing. Recommendations include collaboration with engineers, interior designers and architects to design suitable laundering, ironing and storage facilities for dorms. Further studies on how laundry services cater to dormers' needs is also recommended. CN - LG 993.5 2019 C56 P34 KW - Clothing and dress : Care : Philippines : Quezon City (Metro Manila).
