   <subfield code="a">Record labels are companies that produce and market music recordings and music videos. Through the course of producing a record, the records label accumulates various audio recordings which include the raw recordings and that mastered copies.</subfield>

  <datafield tag="520" ind1="3" ind2=" ">
   <subfield code="a">The study is an assessment of records management and archiving practices for audio recordings of Filipino record labels for survey purposes and for coming up with recommendations for the management and preservation of audio recordings.</subfield>
  </datafield>
  <datafield tag="520" ind1="3" ind2=" ">
   <subfield code="a">Key persons from three Filipino record labels namely: Bem Orchestrator Productions, GMA Records, and Jesuit Music Ministry. The study looked at the different aspects of records management, from the creation of the recordings to its maintenance and eventual disposal. The study also looked at whether the selected institutions had preservation plans in place and what their preservation practices are. The information was gathered through personal and online interviews with key personnel involved in the records management of the record labels.</subfield>
  </datafield>
  <datafield tag="520" ind1="3" ind2=" ">
   <subfield code="a">The following conclusions were drawn from the study: (1) Production of audio recordings are done through digital means and record labels utilize digital audio workstations which means their work is heavily dependent on computers; (2) It is easier to expand storage space when it comes to digital files so the interviewed record labels opt to keep all created audio recordings (raw files and mixed and mastered files); (3) There is no existing standard for the records management practices of records labels so the record developed their own practices to ensure that their collection of audio recordings are usable and accessible; (4) While record labels are not yet fully aware of the processes involved in the handling and preserving of audio recordings, their current practices are adequate, for now, when it comes to ensuring the lifespan of the digital files.</subfield>
  </datafield>
  <datafield tag="520" ind1="3" ind2=" ">
   <subfield code="a">With these conclusions, the researcher provides recommendations for the records management of the collection of audio recordings. These recommendations include: (1) Uniform file naming conventions and organization plans; (2) Backup copies for audio recordings; (3) Regular maintenance and checks of recording equipment and computers; (4) Creation of a preservation plan for digital files.</subfield>
  </datafield>
  <datafield tag="520" ind1="3" ind2=" ">
   <subfield code="a">This study may serve as a starting point for further research on records management practices of record labels and related fields. It may also serve as a framework for independent or young record labels to digitally organize and preserve their collection based on the archiving practices of the three interview subjects. Emphasis is given to the importance of digital preservation as the recording industry is now reliant on digital recording and creation.</subfield>
