   <subfield code="a">There is a growing number of persons with disability (PWDs) despite technological and medical advancement in our modern society. More so, despite modernity and liberal views of society, PWDs are still stereotyped as individuals who are pitied, and most of the time experience social exclusions. Studies here and abroad employed different techniques and media that demonstrated favourable result in modifying abled individual's negative attitude. The direct and indirect experiences of abled children and adolescent  with persons with disability manifested significant positive change with regards to social acceptability. For this study, it employed children aged 5 to 7 years old to evaluate and assess their knowledge and attitude towards PWDs. The result of the study suggested that Filipino children who participated in the study have no awareness with regard to persons with disability. The children have perceived PWDs as to be &quot;different&quot; and someone to be pitied and less capable. This result was also attested by the outcome of the survey made to the deaf people as the primary focus of the study among the different types of disabilities. Consequently, inadequate knowledge and lack of understanding can lead to negative stereotyping. This kind of attitude and perception build barriers to social inclusion or acceptance instead of helping a disabled person gain confidence and be accepted in the society for who they are and what they are capable of doing. Thus, to help break the misconception towards PWDs, this thesis proposal explored  creative way to develop a storybook that depicts positive portrayal of a deaf person to be read to young children which aims to guide them in understanding the disability. In effect, it will foster empathy and as they grow up they will be socially accepting individuals to disabled person.</subfield>
