Layon ng pag-aaral na matukoy ang mga pinag-ugatan ng Quiapo bilang isang sagrado at lapastangang lunan. Para sa pag-aaral, sinuri ang mga pelikulang Geron Busabos: Ang Batang Quiapo (1964), Bulaklak ng Maynila (1999), Santa Santita (2004) at Tirador (2007) upang matunghayan ang pagbabago ng pagharaya sa Quiapo bilang lunan sa larangan ng pelikula. Siniyasat din ang mga balitang patungkol sa Quiapo sa 24 Oras at Saksi (GMA-7), pati na sa TV Patrol at Bandila (ABS)CBN). Sinuri rin ang mga dokumentaryong Mga Lihim ng Quiapo (2009) ng I-Witness (GMA-7), Panata kay Senyor (2011) ng Patrol ng Pilipino (ABS-CBN), at ang 'mockumentary' na Son of God (2010). Pinag-aralan ang mga ito upang matukoy kung paano nagtataguyod ng mga realidad tungkol sa Quiapo ang mga balita sa telebisyon at mga dokumentaryo. Upang matukoy ang mga pinag-ugatan ng Quiapo bilang isang sagrado at lapastangang lunan, nangalap ng mga dokumento tungkol sa kasaysayan ng Quiapo. Gumamit rin ng etnograpiya at ng awto-etnograpiya upang makapaghatid ng isang alternatibong kasaysayan ng nasabing lunan. Sa pagtatapos ng pag-aaral, natukoy at nadalumat, bagama't may mga nananalaytay na similaridad sa aktuwal na lunan ang mga natatanging representasyon sa Quiapo sa pelikula at telebisyon, na ito rin ang nakakapaglilimita at nakapagtitiwali sa ilang paggagap ng mga tao sa Quiapo bilang isang lunan.&quot;</subfield>
