   <subfield code="a">Aircraft noise assessment is first conducted in the Philippines in the project, &quot;Aircraft Noise Survey and Assessment for the Major Airports in the Philippines&quot; (ANSAMAP) followed by Abaya (2006) and Liles (2008) studies on Ninoy Aquino International Airport Runways 06/24 and 13/31, respectively.This aims to provide up-to-date empirical information on exposure level of communities in the vicinity of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to the noise produced by aircrafts using the NAIA runways. A 24-hour on-site noise level measurement was conducted to determine the actual noise levels at specified monitoring stations. This study used the noise modeling software, Integrated Noise Model 7.0 (INM), with the Day-Night Sound Level (DNL) as the noise metric to produce the noise contour map showing the noise exposure levels of the communities in the vicinity of NAIA. Results of this study show that the current on-site noise levels exceeded the permissible nise levels of the local environmental quality standards. Comparison of this study to that of ANSAMAP (2005), Abaya (2006), and Liles (2008) studies shows an increase in noise levels which may be accounted for by a significant increase in flights from 2027 in 2006 to 3924 in 2017 for runway 06/24 and 704 aircraft operations in 2008 to 1271 in 2017 for Runway 13/31.</subfield>
