   <subfield code="a">The purpose of this study is to evaluate selected public high school classrooms in Quezon City in relation to the design standards indicated in the DepED Educational Facilities Manual. This evaluation research aimed to verify if interior elements of selected public high school classrooms in Quezon City conform with the design standards of Department of Education. This study also aimed to determine the deficiencies in selected public high school classrooms and investigate on the factors that contribute to the existence of these deficiencies. Four (4) public high schools were selected through nonprobability accidental sampling method. One (1) classroom in each public high school was chosen through purposive sampling method. Each school is located in different districts in Quezon City: District 1, District 3, District 4 and District 6. Both quantitative and qualitative methods of research were utilized. Each public high school classrooms was evaluated in terms of a) layout and dimensions, b) materials and finishes, c) furniture, equipment and fixtures. Data gathering was performed through ocular observation and photo documentation followed by an in-depth interview with the physical facilities coordinator/property custodian of each public high school. Findings show that 31% of the total interior elements assessed in four (4) public high school classrooms did not conform with the design standards indicated in DepEDE-FM. However, this data does not reflect the extent of deficiencies observed in sample classrooms. The respondents asserted that students' negligence and or vi recklessness toward the classroom facilities is the major factor that contribute to the existence of these deficiencies.</subfield>
