<subfield code="a">The feasibility study on the invention, Gabion-type Low Dam with Vermicast as Core Material or "Gabion-Vermicast Dam" aims to authenticate the prospective business of a new irrigation dam technology. This new product aims to serve as an irrigation dam to small irrigation projects (less than 200 hectares). with the added benefits of being low cost and being healthier for crops, due to its core material. vermicast. This project focuses on the adaptation of this new dam technology to all remaining small irrigation projects in the country and the company that will hold necessary operations to achieve that goal. The specific target market for this project are "Individuals in the Philippine agricultural sector, located in potential irrigable areas who are actively using their lands for agricultural production, with means to be included in a 50 hectare land area and have access to an NIA (National Irrigation Administration) main canal." The market was found to be extremely viable, with 488,917 farmers involved in the specific target market mentioned above and 27,810 small irrigation projects left in the country. The company chose to focus on Luzon projects. which makes up most of the demand, during the first 5 years of operation and came up with the following sales forecast. Each Gabion-Vermicast dam is made up of gabions, vermicast, and geotextile fabric. The gabions serve as the body of the dam. The geotextile fabric is sewn into a pouch in order to protect the vermicast, which is put in between the gabions. It takes an average of 4 weeks for the dam design's detailed engineering to fit the site and 2 weeks for building the dam itself. However, an average of 21 months is assumed for each project due to the long process of bidding in the national irrigation administration. The Gabion-Vermicast dam may be availed in 4 options through the company. The following options are (1) Design+ Supply+ Construction (2) Design + Partial Supply+ Construction (3) Design + Supply+ Partial Construction (4) Design + Partial Supply + Partial Construction. Such options are available to keep the low cost advantage of the dam for the financially challenged stakeholders. Manpower for the company is minimal in the 5 years of operation and is enough to cater to primary projects and expansion of the company. The total investment cost. which is made up of the capital investments and the operational cost for the first year, amounts to Php 28,706,249.43. This is already a pessimistic estimate because the Metro Manila facility was used. 2/3 of this will be funded through equity financing while the other 1/3 will be through debt financing. Based on the financial projections of the company, the following financial ratios prove that the company is a good investment and will be financially stable in its operations. Moreover, the project has been proven to be socially attractive and economically feasible. This was determined through the use of 2 socio-economic criteria, namely net present value and benefit cost ratio. The project was determined to have Php 328,711,570.6 of net present value and a benefit cost ratio of 20.98. The NPV is positive and the 8/C ratio is greater than 1, therefore making the project socially profitable. Given the feasibility of the Gabion-Vermicast dam in all the marketing, technical, organizational, financial and social aspects, the project should definitely be pursued.</subfield>
