<subfield code="a">This study attempted to find out the views on discipline and the disciplinary practices of mothers and grandmothers of preschool children living in the same household. It sought to determine the levels of their involvements in the children's practices on the children. Factors such as the child's gender and birth order were considered if they influence such practices and factors such as the mother and grandmother's age were tested to find out if they were associated with their views in the discipline and their disciplinary practices. A total of 30 mothers participated in this study. The respondents were residents of Sanville Subdivision in Quezon City. They were selected purposively for this study. Data were tabulated and analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequencies, percentages, percentages, correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis. Findings revealed that the respondents had mean age of thirty-five point forty-three (35.43) for the mothers and mean age of sixty-three point fifty-seven (63.57) for the grandmothers. Majority of the mothers (80%) and the grandmothers (87%) are college degree holders. Results showed that there is a difference in the mothers and grandmothers' views on discipline. Mothers view discipline as a mode of teaching self-control and self-reliance. Grandmothers see discipline as a strict adherence and obedience to rules ans as submission to authority. The mothers and the grandmothers share the same views as to the level of discipline needed for a particular behavior except for whining and aggressiveness. They also agreed on most matters referring to some attitudes and beliefs on family life and children. There is no difference in the top five disciplinary practices the mothers and the grandmothers' use on their preschool children. They were giving warnings, making the child apologize, talking out a problem, withholding privileges and offering choices. The child misbehaves. However, both respondents also gave punitive discipline practices such as teasing and making the child guilty when he has wronged. Factors such as the child's gender and birth order do not influence the disciplinary practices. The same analyses made on the grandmothers' age showed a negative correlation and negative regression results. These proves that as the grandparents grow older, the views on the discipline needed for particular behavior such as fighting, resisting orders, temper tantrums, aggressive behavior, regression results showed ha among grandmothers, the younger ones adhere to this kind of practice.</subfield>
