Written permission required from the department head for NON-IE and NON-UP students or researchers Submitted in partial fulfillment of the course requirements in IE 155 : Industrial Systems Design Dairy farming is generally a smallholder activity concentrated in certain areas of the Philippines and is considered a supplemental source of income only. Cooperatives such as the Talavera Dairy Cooperative, Inc. (TDCI) and the Nueva Ecija Federation of Dairy Carabao Cooperative (NEFEDCCO), as assisted by the government, market and sell the milk produced by their members. Hopefully, these will help sustain efforts in uplifting local milk production. The carabao's potential to produce milk and contribute to the total national production is shown by the results of the survey conducted by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS). DVF Dairy Farm offers a wide range of dairy carabao's milk products produced from carefully selected fresh carabao's milk and are available in various sizes and packaging to meet the demand of retail and industrial consumers. The product line of the business has gradually expanded from fresh carabao's milk to pasteurized milk, flavored milk drinks, white cheese, pastilles leche, espasol, and gourmet cheese. Through the use of various Industrial Engineering tools and techniques, the nature of the business in which DVF Dairy Farm is engaged in was better understood. Through interviews, research and analysis, the environment in which the organization is situated was described. Opportunities and threats facing the company, the strengths and weaknesses which DVF possessed were also identified then summarized in a SWOT/TOWS Analysis Matrix. Using these pieces of information, a more appropriate mission and vision of the company was formulated to state the reason for the firm's existence and identify the value it wishes to create. A Cause and Effect diagram was then constructed to facilitate the problem analysis. The group was able to identify four main areas of concern for the company: (1) poor monitoring system; (2) high costs; (3) frequent spoilage; and (4) minimal sales. These problematic areas all contribute to negative profit. Appropriate strategies were drafted to address these areas for improvement. This Industrial Systems Analysis study was accomplished in behalf of the management of DVF Dairy Farm to serve as a reference in meeting the different areas concerning the particular matter. Care has been taken to make this paper as accurate as possible.
