<subfield code="a">The single burner induction cooker offers an alternative to existing cookers in the Philippine market like the gas stove, electric stove and microwave. It is designed as a primary heat source in the kitchen. Among this product's many competitive advantages is that it uses the principle of electromagnetic heating, thereby reducing both electricity costs and the risks of accidental burns. The induction cooker will be marketed under the name COOKING WIZARD, a name which conveys shrewdness of the innovation. It will be available to the consumer at a price o PhP 7,000. The market was segmented according to the location and income to determine the target market. The focus of the induction cooker's marketing plan would be households from Metro Manila with annual incomes of at least Php 95,890. Demand is determined by the increase in the number of households in Metro Manila. population projections have provided forecasts of the increase in the number of households for the five years included in the study period. Supply projections were obtained from data provided by other members of the home appliance industry. The two-month simple moving average was used to forecast supply for years 2000 to 2004. Consolidation of supply and demand projections yielded sales forecasts for five years. A market strategy that would increase market share for five years has been chosen, which provided a sales plan of 1,841 units. The product will be launched at teh Manila Peninsula, with discounts to be given to customers for the first two months. Promotion will be done through newspaper advertisements, and the distribution of posters and flyers and home appliance centers. The process to be employed for the manufacture of the induction cooker was determined through evaluation of technical alternatives. The production schedule was obtained based on sales forecasts plus an additional safety stock. 2,160 units would be produced per year, which already includes a safety stock of 319 units. Order policy would be based on the system of Materials Requirements Planning. Capacity planning determined equipment and labor requirements for production. One piece of YOKOGAWA testing machine would be purchased. The tools needed would be four units of solder gun and four units of screwdriver. Direct labor requirements has been determined to be four workers. The space that will be needed for the production area, including inventory space requirements, is 105.5 square meters. The facility will be located at C. Jose St., Maricaban, Pasay City, where two-story building will be constructed on 500 square meters of land. The total project cost for six months operating is Php 9,832,721.82. The legal structure chosen for the organization that will manufacture the induction cooker is the corporation.. The form of ownership was selected due to its indefinite existence, capital infusion capacity, and limited liability. Its name will be REYMAN CORPORATION, with a term of existence of 50 years. Seventy percent (70%) of the total project cost will be raised through equity, while the remaining thirty percent (30%) will be loaned. The Philippine National Bank has been chosen as the loaning institution, with a 13.55% annual interest and loan period of five years. Financial projections showed that the initiation of the venture is commercially profitable. Payback period was determined to be 2.54 years. The net present value obtained is PhP 64,961.98, which is the additional amount that can be invested and still not incur losses. Internal rate of return is 25.55%, which is greater than the minimum attractive rate of return of 25%. The initiation of the project will also have social benefits. The public will benefit from the increased supply of cooking appliances. The local government will benefit from the employment that will be generated and the city taxes that will be paid by the corporation. The national government will incur additional revenues through corporate taxes and personal income taxes that will be paid by employees. local industries will benefit from the purchase of raw materials, telephone usage, and power, fuel, and water consumption. Pasay City community will earn PhP 6,000,000 from the purchase of land and building construction. Stockholders will earn from dividends paid by the corporation. The only disbenefit of the venture is the importation of the printed circuit board which would drain the country of its dollar reserves.</subfield>
