<subfield code="a">The study of the feasibility of Ankorhoff Inc, makers of Meilleur Ink, was inspired by a study made by Ma. Christina Salvanera concerning the treatment of used engine oil for ink production for ballpoint pens, typewriter ribbons, and mimeographing machines. Her study won an Approtech Asia Award in the field of chemistry, secondary level. The demand projections for ink in the Philippines, derived from population growth, show an increasing trend in ball pen and also ball pen ink demand. In the year 2007, 857,210.11 liters of black ball pen ink will be needed, corresponding to about 17 million ballpens. Moreover, all ink for ballpens produced locally import their supply of ink from other countries. Therefore, production of Meilleur Ink will benefit the economy by preventing dollars from going off shores, as well as creating revenues from taxes, creating more jobs, and lessening the environmental impact of oil improperly disposed of. A net present value (NPV) of P61,346,010.46, a value much greater than the recommended value (zero), was computed considering the benefits and liabilities. Also, dollar flight prevention of as much as USD 873,069.84 can be achieved per year. Funding for the project will be provided with a loan to the Development Bank of the Philippines. The profitability of the proposed establishment was founded with a value of zero for the Debt-to-Net worth Ratio, ).55 for the net turnover ratio, and 0.9870 on the first year for return on assets, and a very short payback period of 1.3027 years is estimated. The company has many possible locations, but evaluation of the chosen criteria show that the most favorable site is in Lawang Bato, Valenzuela, Metro Manila. Xylene was chosen as the oil solvent and ink vehicle. Equipments to be used for the production of Meilleur Ink include the filter pump, waste oil furnace, JTC-1 mixer, gear pump, and viscosity cups. A total of 14 people will be employed in Ankorhoff Inc. The word "Meilleur" in "Meilleur Ink" is French for "better", so together the product name means "Better Ink". The name Ankorhoff Inc. is derived from the surname of the proponents (Angeles, Cortez, Hofilena).</subfield>
