AB  - ABSTRACT The study aimed to describe the quality assurance systems that are practiced by selected online clothing stores based in Metro Manila. It explained what quality assurance systems and procedures the selected online clothing stores follow in the different phases of online store operation. It compared existing quality assurance systems of these online stores with the synthesized quality assurance model of Balfagih et al. It also determined what further preventive measures can be implemented to prevent quality assurance related issues or problems. Eight purposively selected Multiply.com based online clothing stores in Metro Manila were studied through interviews and observation. From the gathered data, the results showed that although online stores do not follow a strict or consistent step-by-step quality assurance system, common quality assurance practices are present among them. The quality assurance related practices that the online clothing stores perform during their operations are similar to the elements included in the synthesized QA model by Balfagih et al. Although these practices are fairly acceptable based on the model of Balfagih et al., improvements are needed especially with regards to security certifications, fair payment and return or exchange procedures and policies. The research also identified product-wise and customer service-wise preventive measures which are performed by the selected online clothing stores to avoid probable quality assurance related problems. Further research on practices related to customer service, ethics, and communication in online clothing business or E-commerce is recommended.
