Caragay, adviser. 2011. ix, 75 leaves Thesis (BSCT)--University of the Philippines Diliman This study is a descriptive research which identified the factors influencing the current occupations of selected BS Clothing Technology (BSCT) graduates from the years 2008 to 2010. The research determined the different career preferences of the respondents after graduation, their current jobs and the factors that influenced heir decisions. The study used the Borda Count method for the rankings of the factors and, with the use of the random sampling method, forty four (44) BSCT graduates from the said years were given the opportunity to participate in the study. The researcher was able to contact and give questionnaires to thirty eight (38) graduates while twenty five graduates returned the survey. Results suggested that Merchandising plays a major role in the careers of the respondents as shown by the preference for merchandising careers after graduation cited by the majority. Findings based on the profile of the respondents revealed that BS Clothing Technology (BSCT) ranked first among the factors influencing the current occupations of the respondents. This is followed by Interest and Skills and Influence of Socializers. These were consistent with their answers in the survey questionnaire. Similarly, majority of the participants were found to have related career preferences and current occupation. Moreover, the respondents are generally satisfied with their current jobs. The researcher makes the following recommendations: that the BSCT curriculum be reviewed to address the area that need reinforcement, specially the merchandising domain; that entrepreneurship be added as an area of specialization; a bigger population from the different years of graduation is recommended to get more conclusive results and lastly, a database of all the UP Diliman BSCT graduates would also be helpful in reaching these alumni for future studies.
