   <subfield code="a">Public libraries have a great responsibility in the community.  these cater to different people from different walks of life and provide them materials that are educational and recreational.  the Quezon City Public Library (QCPL) was established on August 16, 1948.  It started as a small public library but is now the biggest public library maintained by a city government in Metro Manila.  The QCPL has 16 branches around different barangays of Quezon City.</subfield>

   <subfield code="a">The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the existing Collection Development Policy of the Quezon City Public Library in order to find out if it meets the needs of its clients.  It sought to answer the following questions: 1 What are the real and perceived information needs of the clients of the Quezon City Public Library? 2. Does the Quezon City Public Library Collection Development Policy and its implementation serve the needs of the clients? 3.  How can the Collection Development Policy of the Quezon City Public Library be further strengthened to give optimum satisfaction to the information needs of its clients. The researcher conducted a survey on the library with 370 respondents.  After that, the researcher conducted an interview with two licensed librarians.</subfield>

   <subfield code="a">The major findings of the study  were: 1. most of the respondents were students; 2. majority of the library users visited the library rarely and their primary reason was lack of time; 3. majority of the respondents used the library materials rarely and their primary reason was because of unfriendly librarians. 4. the major reason of the respondents in visiting the library were to find sources for research and to accomplish assignments and school papers; 5. the library sources that were most frequently consulted were textbooks/monographs, encyclopedias and dictionaries; 6. majority of the library users were contented with the services offered by the library. 7. the two major subject fields in which respondents usually needed information were science &amp; technology and general information. 8. the two major areas for improvement of the library collection as perceived by users were reference section (encyclopedia and dictionary) and science (biology, physics, chemistry and natural science.</subfield>
