TY - THES T1 - Predictors of the employability of the graduates of Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and its related fields A1 - Galatierra, Evangeline Z. A2 - Hizon, Evalyn G. LA - English UL - https://tuklas.up.edu.ph/Record/UP-99796217608420318 AB - This study purported to determine the student, family and institution-related factors that predict the employability of 120 (female, 115 and male, five) graduates of Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and its related fields from two institutions: a State College and a State University, in Central Luzon, in terms of Education-Employment Match, Waiting Time and Job Stability. The data were obtained through a survey questionnaire, which was supplemented and substantiated by qualitative information derived from three Focus Group Discussions. The statistical analysis employed to test the hypotheses was the Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis showed that at .05 probability level, the active participation of the respondents in co-curricular activities and the administrative support have significant effect on the education-employment match. For the "waiting time" the only factor found to have a significant effect was the school's guidance services. For the "job stability" in terms of job status and salary, eight factors were found to be significant. These were hobby, study habits, participation in co-curricular activities, degree of interest in the course, family income, institutional image, guidance services and administrative support. There is a strong need therefore for the parents and the teachers to encourage their children/students to actively participate in different school activities as this will help develop their personality as a whole. This will serve as their edge over the other applicants. The more support given by the administration to every department, the better will be the quality of their graduates. The better the graduates are, the higher will be the image of the institution and all these could help the graduates to facilitate their search for employment.
