   <subfield code="a">The aims to formulate a workable design for a program of library orientation for the incoming freshmen of Maryknoll College based on the lessons tried out at the beginning of the first semester of the school year 1972-73.  This proposal is also intended to serve as a guide for the professional librarians who will be giving such instruction in future library orientation programs.  This study also seeks answers to some specific questions on how the particular orientation program will be implemented.</subfield>

   <subfield code="a">In carrying out this study a review of related literature was undertaken but this did not provide the writer sufficient information to guide her.  Thus a survey of the existing practices regarding library orientation in six member colleges of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines was conducted by means of a questionnaire.  Telephone and personal interviews supplemented the data gathered from the survey.</subfield>
