   <subfield code="3">000 at the cheapest. The ZiPPMac Project developed a small-size, low-cost PCR machine. An alternative that is comparable to PCR machines existing in the market in terms of functionality and accuracy in thermal cycling and the PCR process. ZiPPMac made use of a Z8 Encore! Microcontroller and utilized thermoelectric modules (TEM's) as the primary heating and cooling element. The microcontroller was programmed using ZDS II. The temperature was controlled using pulse-width modulation and a digital PID controller embedded in the microcontroller's firmware. An LCD matrix was used to display the machine's status and operation. Keypad, switches, and push buttons were used for input variables. Being cheap and small sized, it will greatly benefit researchers and students in the field of biology, medicine, and forensic sciences. With the ZiPPMac project, students and researchers would be able to purchase a machine at a much lower cost, if not create their own PCR machines, so that they can have better learning and be more enabled to do their research works anytime, anywhere.</subfield>
