<subfield code="a">Language is a very powerful tool in communicating one's ideas, feelings, and emotions. There is no such thing as a superior language than the other. All languages have about the same level of structural complexity overall and are capable of allowing their speakers to describe the world in which they live in (SIL International, 2004).Realizing this, the need for tools representative of Philippine languages would be relevant. The field of medicine has long been addressing the problem in information management. With its rapid progression due to continuing researches and innovations, information in this field are rapidly expanding and getting more complicated.</subfield>

<subfield code="a">This study aimed to contribute in the creation of Philippine Medical Thesaurus. This study focused on the four facet of the anatomy from the MeSH website: animal structures, body regions, stomatognathic system, and urogenital system. Terms were translated into Cebuano and supplied with scope notes and semantic relationships.</subfield>

<subfield code="a">The overall output for this project was fairly satisfactory. Based on the outcome of this study, 55 percent of terms downloaded from MeSH website and borrowed from Palmera (2003) a previous researcher, have their Cebuano translations. After conducting this study, the researcher recommends the analysis of the remaining terms, inclusion of respondents specializing in the chosen facet, development of policies for 'coinage' and 'loaning of terms' to provide Cebuano translations for highly technical medical terms, inclusion of other Cebuano references for a more thorough study, and the validation, update and maintenance of this thesaurus to ensure that the entry terms represent the target language which is Cebuano.</subfield>
