This research study investigates the status of the Ateneo Microform Center, its present operations and services to other libraries. It also aims to identify problems and prospects of improving its services and also to assess its impact on its clients and users. The respondents of the study include the management, students, users (faculty, staff and researchers) who are regular clientele of the Center. This study used the descriptive method of research. As a fact-gathering survey, it used a questionnaire as the principal research instrument, supplemented by interviews whenever necessary. One hundred eighty (180) questionnaires were distributed to the regular student users of the center composed of graduate and undergraduate students. Eight local and fourteen foreign clients accomplished the questionnaire. The data gathered from clientele, the users, microform personnel, interviews with the present and previous Library Director of the Ateneo Microform Center on the present operation of the Ateneo Microform Center was analyzed. On the basis of the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: The present status and services to libraries is minimal. The floor space for staff, and readers' areas is very limited. Services to its users and local and foreign clients are very satisfactory but a little improvement should be made. More materials are suggested for microfilming. ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) and HRAF (Human Relations Area Files) and Microfilming of Dailies and other Filipiniana Special Collection are included in the Center's collection. In the light of the foregoing, this research study recommends the following: The antiquated reader machines and equipment should be replaced with the latest models. An adequately staffed microform center could solve the consultation problem, time constraints in microform service; there must be more projects to satisfy more microfilm title demands by the clientele; better methods in the delivery system should be improved to increase speed of delivery; and only microform users should be allowed in the reading area to minimize disturbance and noise.
