<subfield code="a">The Local Government Information System (LGiS) is an automation of the major responsibilities of a Local Government Office deployed online and/or through intranet of a government outlet. The system caters to general users: the employees of a Local Government Unit, and its taxpayers. They are prompted to a login page where the system classifies their privileges. Classified users are then redirected to their corresponding pages. Upon entering the system, different set of services are available depending on your privilege. Taxpayers are able to see the different offices in a Local Government Unit, namely, the City Mayor's Office, the Assessment Office, the Treasury Office, and the Business Permits and Licensing Office. Employees, on the other hand are able to do their usual tasks in a more systematic and accurate way. Computation of real property tax based on the Local Government Code, printing pertinent documents, and encoding of forms and personal data of taxpayers will be a breeze. Management and Information System is a major trend of most automation of agencies and government units. Since the second half of the year 2002, when the E-Commerce Act was made effective, local government units have been moving towards e-governance. LGiS is the pinnacle of this Act. More and more LGU's are now converting their services to an online resource.</subfield>
