Acquisition module, which manages the books acquired by the library from suppliers; 2. Cataloging module which maintains all the data in the library mainly used by the library administrator, 3. Circulation module maintains all the library materials borrowed and returned from the library; 4. Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) module serves as the search engine for users to access data from the library. These components are presented with a friendly graphical user interface for library administrator and students. They are designed to run in a variety of computer architecture. The design of the database is distributed in nature for a more reliable application. The project is developed in Java to address other design issues such as portability, network connectivity and multi-threading. The database used is PostgreSQL and the server used is Linux that is able to run in multiple client-basis sites connected to the system. These 'data' sites are independent on one another and would work concurrently with each other and to the components of the library system.
