   <subfield code="a">This descriptive-survey study was conducted to determine the current profile pf 103 randomly selected newly hired employees in public and private educational, financial, health and trade and commercial agencies in Iloilo City. It also aimed to determine the variables related to employability of the subjects. Through a checklist and a non-structured interview, data were obtained from the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) of the agencies covered in the study. The information regarding the subjects' socio-demographic characteristics were taken from the records available in the HRDO. As regards the variables related to employability of the subjects, 23 Human Resource Development Officers/Assistant General managers/personnel Officers were interviewed. In cases were HRD Officers could not provide some data needed because of confidentiality and other reasons beyond control, personal interview with the subjects was done. The data gathered were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings of the study showed that the majority of the newly hired employees were females working mostly in private agencies. The majority of the agencies covered were private agencies. As to the nature of organizations, most of the subjects were in educational institutions, followed by those in trade and commercial establishments, health services, and the least were from financial institutions. There were more females in educational institutions, the same number of subjects in financial institutions, more females in health services, and more females in trade and commercial establishments. The study further showed that majority of the subjects were single. Most new employees were in private organizations. majority of the subjects in educational, financial, and health institutions were single; there was a balance of new hires in terms of numbers in trade and commercial establishments. By monthly salary, majority of the subject' in private organizations was in the &quot;above Ph5,000 to Php10,000 category. There were, however, more subjects who received monthly salaries of more than Php10,000 in public agencies. It was observed that a similar proportion of subjects in educational, financial, and health institutions received monthly salary which fell in the &quot;above PhP5,000 to PhP10,000&quot; salary scale. In educational institutions, this study indicated that more subjects received monthly salaries of more than Php10,000 than any of the new employees in financial, health, and trade and commercial establishments. As to educational qualifications, more than 80 percent of the 103 subjects had baccalaureate degrees, with the highest percentage in educational institutions followed by those in trade and commercial agencies, health agencies, and financial institutions, in that order. More had master's degrees in trade and commercial institutions, followed by those in educational institutions, in financial institutions, and in health service institutions. One (1) subject in an educational institution had a doctorate degree. With regard to academic honors. most of the subjects did not have any. Those with honors were hired mostly in educational institutions, then in health institutions, and trade and commercial establishments; the least were in financial institutions. In terms of school graduated from amajority of the subjects came from private schools, but not too far behind were new employee from public schools. With reference to eligibility, majority of the subjects either passed board examinations or possessed professional civil service eligibility. Only one (1) subject in a public agency indicated no eligibility. The study also showed that majority of those who passed the board examinations and with professional civil service eligibility were in private organizations, with the most number of employees in educational institutions. Whether in public or private agencies, majority of the subjects demonstrated skills in computer operations. The same trend was observed when the subjects were grouped by nature of organization (educational, financial, health, or trade and commercial). majority of the newly hired employees were Roman Catholic, whether classified according to type of organization (public and private) or nature of organization. The study also indicated that the subjects in private organizations had a higher mean grade point average (GPA) than their counterparts in public agencies. It was observed that the highest GPA mean was obtained by those in financial institutions. The mean length of service in number of years was longer in public agencies than in private organizations. On the whole, the subjects had an overall weighted mean of 2.62 years. It was shown in this study that the average number of training hours was highest in educational institutions, with the least in trade and commercial establishments. In terms of the variables related to employability as perceived by Human Resource Development Officers, the data showed that &quot;educational qualifications, experience and skills&quot; were the most preferred, followed by &quot;educational qualifications and eligibility.&quot; These preferences were observed mostly in educational institutions. based on the results of the study, it was concluded that educational qualifications, special skills in computer operations, experience, and eligibility would give graduates higher chances of employment in public or private educational, financial, health, or trade and commercial establishments. The following are recommended to improve employability of graduates in Iloilo City: update or upgrade continually the quality of education, most especially with the fast advancement of technology.  Students need to have adequate and appropriate educational qualifications, possess technical skills such as the use of computers, gain work experience, and be eligible in the job they are applying for. With the tough competition in the job marketplace. It is advised that graduates are also encouraged of becoming employers themselves through starting up their own small business endeavor.</subfield>
