<subfield code="a">Actual interview was conducted in December 1996 in Barangay Cagbang, Miagao. Out of twenty-six (26) respondents, seven (7) were members of the potter's association, and nineteen (19) were non-members. The researchers used census survey since the population being investigated was quite small., In analyzing the data, costs and returns analysis particularly for economic profit was used to determine the profitability of pottery-making in Miagao. Moreover, frequency distribution was also used to describe the profile of pottery industry in Miagao. The results of the study showed that potters follow the 12 basic steps in making different pottery products which include banga, pots, pasu, masetera, cooking pots, uringan, kalan, paratuk-an, flower vases, decorative jars, and desk garden. Results of the costs and return analysis showed that pure economic profit of members and non-members of the potter's association were both positive amounting to P1871.13 and P497.17, respectively. In a per product type basis, members earned positive pure economic profit from making banga, pots, masetera, pasu, paratuk-an, and kalan. In contrast, non-members earned positive pure economic profit from making pots, masetera, pasu, coron, kalan, and flower vases. Both groups of potters earned negative profit on other productive types. This indicates that the pottery-making in Cagbang for both members and non-members of the association were profitable and should continue. However, this may entail improvement of quality and concentration of production on pottery products which gave positive pure economic profit. Based on the findings, this study recommends that potters be organized to increase their bargaining power in fetching higher prices for their products. Moreover, it is recommended that development plans be made for pottery-making business; That local government unit of Miagao should provide marketing facilities such as stockroom for potter's products, and conduct a series of seminars and trainings to help potters understand the value of cooperativism, so as to improve their status and develop their business.</subfield>
