Pawikan Conservation Project (PCP) is a project of PAWB-DENR with one of the major tasks to conduct IEC to disseminate information, increase awareness, towards sea turtle conservation and protection and solicit participation of the country's populaceThe IEC has been conducted nationwide but no evaluation was done to measure success. In this study, an enumerative survey was conducted to assess the knowledge , attitude and behavior towards sea turtle conservation and protection of the local community in barangay Rawis, Can-avid, Eastern Samarand a KI interview and document review were used to document the IEC. The data obtained from the survey were processed using SPSS. Results revealed that knowledge about .the law on sea turtle was very high while knowledge on sea turtle biology, population and impacts of human activities were low to very low. The knowledge on sea turtle population showed a high significant correlation (p>0.01) to attitude towards sea turtle and their usesThis attitude revealed a significant to highly significant correlation to other attitude categories and highly significant (p>0.01) to all behavior categories. Mean weighted scores of attitude .categories were not high, while mean score of reported behavior were high. Knowledge attitude and behavior categories however showed no correlation to individual's involvement in the conservation program. Factors such as inadequate planning, absence of a formative research, poor coordination and support from various agencies and institutions, limited time and resources, lack of participation, communication gap, limited monitoring and the absence of an evaluation have contributed on the insignificant impact of the PCP-IEC activity.
