AB  - The purpose of this study was to measure the economic value of hornbills found in Northwest Panay Penisula using Contingent Valuation Method.  The method assessed the willingness to pay in conserving the hornbills.  Different factors affecting WTP were analyzed and the significant factors were willingness to pay amount and the number of educational years attained.  Main reasons for the WTP were non-use values which are existence value, indirect and its habitats were discussed as well as other environmental concerns/issues.  Some policies were recommended to capture the assessed value.  This is hoped to contribute towards increasing the awareness of people about hornbills and the biodiversity.
