This study examines the representations of inclusive beauty through the curation of Filipino makeup brands like Vice Cosmetics, BLK Cosmetics, and Colourette Cosmetics and analyzes how their consumers receive it. Makeup brands are challenging beauty standards and stereotypes by providing their consumers with a wider range of selections. Through Stuart Hall?s Audience Reception Theory, the researchers analyze the representations of "Inclusive Beauty" as encoded by these three local makeup brands and decoded by their consumers. The standards of inclusive beauty set by brands and consumers will also be examined in the light of Kimberle Williams Crenshaw's Theory on Intersectionality and its bearings on the lived experiences of the participants. For the encoding, the researchers conducted a content analysis on Facebook promotional posts on the companies? advocacies and products namely, Duo Finish Foundation of Vice Cosmetics with the hashtag #GandaForAll, Universal Collection by BLK Cosmetics, and First Base Everyday Skin Tint by Colourette Cosmetics. For the decoding, the researchers conducted a Focus Group Discussion to get the perceptions, insights, and lived experiences of consumers on inclusive beauty and how the three brands showcase it.
