   <subfield code="a">This study focuses on how young, emerging musicians make sense of social and streaming media platforms in the context of their musicianship, self-marketing, and communications. Additionally, it gives light to how music trends, social and streaming media algorithms, and content data might influence or even contribute to the innovation of these areas of being a musician, which allows the effects of social media culture and digital algorithms' determinism on young, emerging artists to be studied and analyzed.&#13;

Six respondents, semi-professional musicians between the ages of 15 to 30. were interviewed about their experiences with the media platforms, and their responses were analyzed through interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Their responses revealed a heavy reliance on recommendation systems and algorithms for musicianship, and on music trends for self-marketing. The discussion also revealed that individuality, relevance, diversity, and agency were foundational to a young, emerging musician immersed in social and streaming media.</subfield>
