   <subfield code="a">A case study of the UPIS Grade 4 first ever online art class, at the onset of the pandemic. The study aims to provide us with the scenario of the educational system during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This paper focused on the emergent educational attempt as part of the Philippines' Emergency Response Education Program, which is the country's response to the global crisis.&#13;
&#13;
This is aligned with Kolb's theory of experiential learning and John Dewey's progressive theory on online distance education. Faced with unprecedented challenges brought by the global pandemic, this case study will identify key learning approaches (or modes), and review their effectivity based on Kolb and Dewey's theories of experiential and progressive learning. Because of our experience on the effectivity of online learning for art, this could be considered as a regular alternative or a program that could augment traditional learning modes.&#13;
&#13;
The researcher was able to attend both online classes with Doctor Leonor Diaz for his Educ 181 Senior Seminar subject and with Mr. Armando Basug for his Educ 180 Student Teaching practicum course. He had participated, observed and did further readings to understand the Emergency Remote Education done by the UPIS for Grade 4. The research that follows contains his observation and analysis of the efficiency and efficacy of the program based on Kolb and Dewey's theory.&#13;

This research aims to shed light on the post pandemic projections and recommendations so all of us can move forward together through these challenging times. This could also pave the way for understanding the current online education that a specific institution can provide to a limited section, through a case study of the UPIS Grade 4 Art classes.&#13;
&#13;
Part of the claim of this study is whether the new modality of online class was a success or not. At the end of the semester, the students on both classes of Grade 4 section Bataw and Labanos provided general feedback of which the research suggests that the overall online learning mode was a success.&#13;
&#13;
Furthermore, it bridges the gap between the early stages of online education in the Philippines at the start of the pandemic and the dynamics and learning environment of the evolving hybrid or online class in the event that both private and public schools do not offer full face-to-face classes thereafter. Therefore, this study not only provides a first-hand account of the researcher's experience, but it also offers some retrospect and ultimately, a hindsight to aspiring educators on how to make the transition from a traditional classroom setting to an online class, given the scarcity of research and interest in the subject.</subfield>
