The community demonstrates a favorable disposition towards environmental conservation, recognizing the ecological and economic benefits provided by marine resources (Spearman's rho, rs=0.05). Future research should focus on monitoring sedimentation rates and heavy metal concentrations in water and sediment, particularly post-initiation of mining activities. Comparative temporal studies are recommended to evaluate sedimentation across dry and wet seasons. Additionally, socio-economic assessments should consider the mining company's willingness to invest in environmental sustainability.</subfield>

It is imperative that the company obtains a Special Use Agreement in Protected Area (SAPA) despite holding a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement from DENR-MGB. Local Government Units (LGUs), in partnership with Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), should lead local enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.</subfield>

   <subfield code="a">This study assesses the environmental and socio-economic conditions surrounding Manicani Island in anticipation of future mining operations. The current sedimentation rates (0.052.490 mg cm^2 d^-1) are below the critical threshold for coral reefs (10 mg cm² d-'), suggesting minimal immediate sediment impact. Coral cover varies from poor to excellent, correlating positively with fish density (r=0.680) and biomass (r=0.640). Areas with higher fish densities also exhibited higher Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE), though the catch predominantly comprised non-target species. Fisherfolk face challenges in catching desired fish species, necessitating extended effort and advanced gear.</subfield>
