In the Philippines, four out of ten scientifically proven herbal plants endorsed by DOH-PITAHC namely garlic, guava, tsaang-gubat, and hierba buena are indicated for oral health. Despite studies focusing on the effectiveness of the four medicinal plants for oral health, there are little to no studies focusing on the populace’s level of knowledge, attitude, and practices on the said medicinal plants for oral health. AB - METHODS: A descriptive study design was used in the study. A three-part online questionnaire (Google Forms) containing questions on knowledge, attitude, and practices on four medicinal plants for oral health was given to UP Manila College of Dentistry Oral Medicine patients. Patients were invited to participate in the study everyday through a text message containing a brief detail of the research. A 30-peso load was sent to each participant to guarantee data connection for answering the online questionnaire. The online questionnaire link was sent through text messages and Facebook and was answerable within 15-20 minutes. Upon completion, another 20-peso load was sent to each participant as a token. AB - RESULTS: A total of 214 Oral Medicine patients during the A.Y. 2019-2020 participated in the study. Out of 214 respondents, 147 (68.69%) had knowledge on using medicinal plants for oral health which they mostly knew through friends and acquaintances. Most of the participants had a generally positive attitude toward medicinal plants for oral health and believed that they were safe, effective, accessible, and cheaper than conventional medicine. Only 64 (29.91%) personally used medicinal plants to address their oral health conditions. Garlic was the most widely known and used medicinal plant, followed by guava, hierba buena, and tsaang-gubat. AB - CONCLUSION: Majority of the participants were knowledgeable and had a generally positive attitude toward the four medicinal plants for oral health but did not use and prepare the medicinal plants to address their oral health problems.
