This research aims to find out the effect of nurse-physician relationship to patient satisfaction in the delivery of nursing care in the pay patient department of a tertiary hospital. In order to achieve these objectives, a descriptive correlational research design was used. Sampling units was obtained via stratified random sampling and purposive sampling among the 11 pay wards while samples was obtained via quota sampling of qualified nurse and patient respondents respectively. A survey questionnaire for nurses based on the assessment tool by Mark Radcliffe, RMN in his article entitled “Nurses and Doctors”, and for patients based on the Quality Patient Care Scale by Mabel Wandelt, RN was developed by the researchers and was used to obtain the data needed. Data was analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation which revealed positively weak correlation between the two variables. Measures of central tendency, on the other hand, was also used to describe the status of nurse-physician relationship and the degree of patient satisfaction. The result revealed a fair relationship between nurses and doctors but a satisfactory nursing care as perceived by patients. An item analysis was also done per survey questionnaire. The study proved that there is no significant relationship between nurses and physicians to patient satisfaction in the delivery of nursing care. This shows that even though both professionals do not have a good working relationship, still nurses provide quality nursing care to their patients. This study yielded significant information, which can be used by nurses to improve nursing care. Furthermore, the results revealed areas where nurses can further enhance their interpersonal relationship with doctors. CN - LG 993.5 2003 N8 B82 KW - Intensive nursing experience : Hospital-based.
