   <subfield code="a">Baybayin is a syllabic writing system used widely in ancient Philippine society until its decline during the Spanish invasion. Recently, it has regained popularity due to a renewed interest in calligraphy combined with the general fascination towards Philippine culture.&#13;
&#13;
Meanwhile, board games have been around in the Philippines since the American occupation, and have also enjoyed revivals through contemporary games such as Dungeons &amp; Dragons or board game cafés. The various learning opportunities presented by board games, supported by theories on Visual Scaffolding, Tangential Learning, and the Role of Interest in Learning, have also been studied extensively.&#13;
&#13;
Many young Filipinos express an interest to learn baybayin, since the script holds a nationalistic potential to learn more about Philippine culture. Considering the lack of accessible workshops and reliable sources, there is much more to baybayin than what is academically taught, even more so through the misconception of the true name of baybayin being &quot;alibata&quot;. &#13;
&#13;
This project aims to develop a board game as an alternative learning and promotional tool for the baybayin script for late high school to college students.</subfield>
