   <subfield code="a">Children raised in orphanages will often face various developmental, emotional, and mental health issues. Some orphaned youth in the Philippines, moreover, may remain unadopted, and will only know the orphanages as their only homes throughout their lives. Architecturally, there are few ways to help these children be adopted. Aside from this, some children are also left in these facilities despite having families due to poverty or other financial difficulties. Instead, the research aims to find architectural systems and design programs which will be able to serve as a model for different orphanages and child homes and determine architectural interventions that may help effectively raise and integrate orphaned and abandoned children from the institution into society. These shall also provide human interventions the proper avenue and facilities to help these children. The research will be based on a site located in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. After assessing the current architectural programs and guidelines of orphanages in the Philippines, the research will determine which of these may be improved upon and integrated into a new proposed orphanage project. This shall be done through reviews and analysis of case studies on different orphanages, interviews with professionals and specialists in the field, and observations and visits to orphanages in the Philippines. The data gathered will be assessed and implemented using the Roy Adaptation Model to create a stimulative environmental design for the physical, cognitive, and social development of the children. These will include various architectural interventions in building form, as well as the integration of spaces for sensory and stimulative play involving scenario-based design.</subfield>
