Hospital Transplant Ethics Committees (HTECs) are an essential part of transplant centers and one of their integral tasks is to evaluate potential organ donor-recipient pairs. They must ensure that donations are altruistic, voluntary, and free of coercion or commercial transactions. In 2021, the National Transplant Ethics Committee (NTEC) of the Department of Health (DOH) released AO2021-0059 or the “Guidelines on Ethical Organ Donation and Transplantation from Living Donors”. As part of the continuing education of the HTECs, a training workshop is currently being conducted with the objective of empowering HTEC members by enhancing their knowledge and skills on evaluating donor-recipient pairs. This evaluation was conducted to determine if Phase 1 of the training workshop has been effective in improving the knowledge of HTEC members on the new guidelines. The primary stakeholders that will benefit from this evaluation are the following: NTEC and the DOH. The DOH is the main financial backer of the training program and this evaluation will help them decide whether to continue funding this project. The NTEC is the organizer of the training program and results of the evaluation can help them improve future iterations of the program. The evaluation consists of reviewing secondary data which include the demographic data of the participants, their pre- and post-evaluation of the training and their pre- and post-training test. The evaluation was undertaken based on Kirkpatrick’s model of evaluation. The evaluation has shown that Phase 1 of the program is favorable. The participants were satisfied with the training program and there was an improvement in their self-assessment which coincided with significant improvements in their test scores. The program was able to achieve its objective in improving the knowledge of the participants on the contents of AO 2021-0059. It is recommended that the program be continued.
