<subfield code="a">The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and microfinance are tools to alleviate poverty by providing cash grant for health and educational support to the beneficiaries and the other to augment the financial problems of the said individuals. Given this, the researchers aimed to determine the factors affecting their engagement in these Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) despite the financial grant they receive. Furthermore, expenditure allocations and household profile were included in the study. A total of 166 respondents participated in the study from the 14 resettlement sites in Tacloban City. Self-administered survey was employed, and data were analyzed through Binary Logistic Regression. Results indicate that majority of the respondents were female and has a monthly household income ranging from P1000-P5000 which they claim was insufficient to defray their needs. Most of the respondents view microfinance positively with 84 out of 166 who actively actively engaged on the credit service it offers. Yet, the study revealed that microfinance engaging and non-engaging participants have no other and alternative credit source respectively. Furthermore, civil status, household income, number of family working, personal perception, family's opinion, accessibility, number of requirements and trustworthiness are the significant factors found to influence individual's microfinance engagement decision. Evidently, there are factors that influence the beneficiaries' decisions to engage in microfinance other than their level of income. Considering all these, the researchers recommend to MFIs to create better relationship to its customers and to the government, to reach out more the beneficiaries so as to address their concerns.</subfield>
