   <subfield code="a">Potassium in the fruit of the most common Philippine table banana cultivars were measured in this study. Bunches of banana cultivars, namely, Bangulan (AAA), Cavendish (AAA), Lakatan (AA), Latundan (AAB), and Morado (AAA) were collected. Pulp and peel potassium contents of these cultivars were measured using flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry and were compared. Latundan pulp was measured to have the lowest potassium content (1020 mg/100g dry weight), while no significant difference in pulp potassium content was observed with the other cultivars. Comparison of peel potassium content revealed that the peels of Bungulan (1427.33 mg/100g dry weight) and Cavendish (1372.67 mg/100g dry weight) have lower peel potassium content than that of the other cultivars, which showed to have no peel potassium content variation. In all the cultivars used, the comparison between pulp and peel potassium content showed that the peel has higher potassium content than the pulp. Among the cultivars, Morado was determined to have the highest total fruit potassium content (2727 mg/100g dry weight).</subfield>
