   <subfield code="a">This study explores the Filipino fathers’ use of parental leave and their attitude and preferences toward parental leave policies. It describes Filipino fathers’ use of their parental leave, and determines their attitudes and preferences toward the current parental leave policies, with reference to their gender ideologies. A mixed-methods research, using survey questionnaires and interviews, was employed in gathering the data. Twenty-two Filipino fathers from a laboratory preschool in a premier state university and a childminding center in Quezon City participated in the survey and interview, through convenience and purposive sampling, respectively. Survey data were processed through descriptive statistics and Spearman’s correlation. Interview data were coded and categorized into themes. The results show that Filipino fathers’ spent their time on parental leave mostly at home, taking care of their children alongside doing household chores and taking care of their wives or partners. Additionally, the fathers are highly supportive of parental leave yet discontented with some components of current parental leave policy, such as its current length and inflexibility. Recommendations for parental leave policy reform were provided, particularly (1) a longer length of leave for fathers, (2) a more flexible timeframe on when fathers can use their parental leave, and (3) availability to all types of fathers, e.g. unmarried fathers, single fathers, and stepfathers.</subfield>
