<subfield code="a">This research project covers the promotion of sericulture in Kapangan, Benguet. The plan aimed to study the issues and ways on how the industry will be promoted as an alternative livelihood to the villagers. Online internet sources were utilized to gather data and key informant interviews were employed to verify and update the data. The study analyzed and describe why the industry was now well-developed and prominent after introducing it to Kapangan for the past years. Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA) under the Department of Agriculture (DA) reintroduced sericulture in Kapangan last December 2004 and took charge of maintaining the industry. However, the research found that despite of the benefits of this industry, it still lack of attention from the government, lacking of workers, machineries, and funds. Hence, only few farmers are engaged in sericulture. SWOT Analysis was used to identify the feasibility of the industry and how will it be organized. With the Law of Demand and Supply, raw silk's marketing was stressed out. In accordance with the research and interviews, the resulting data indicated the potential by products of the sericulture and moriculture. Experimentations were conducted and lead to use of silkworm cocoons as a material in making an output. The conducted test also specifies the particular characteristics of the cocoons. It was found out that the new material was competent to be made into lampshade. The concept of Form follows function gave the idea of employing the structure of silk moth design -- Author's abstract.</subfield>
