   <subfield code="a">A pharmaceutical product is composed of different active compounds that affects its stability and produces waste residues which may cause pollution to the environment particularly when there is improper waste management. This study aimed to identify the pharmaceutical wastes disposed by different health centers according to its therapeutic class and dosage form, to determine the compliance of city health centers in National Capital Region (NCR) based on the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and to assess the level of awareness of healthcare workers (HCWs) on pharmaceutical waste disposal and the environmental risks associated with the neglect thereof. In this study, 12 city health centers in selected cities of National Capital Region (NCR) underwent a guided interview. Based on the data collected, the most common pharmaceutical waste disposal management practices were returning wastes to the donor or manufacturer and the waste collection by a third party. Three (3) out of 12 city health centers disposed their anti-infectives wastes in the sewer despite of the relatively high level of awareness of their city health workers with regards to the risk of pharmaceutical waste. The researchers recommend for further researches to conduct the study in a greater sample size, and for the government to fund and conduct further studies regarding handling of pharmaceutical wastes on health centers and its disposal that would open opportunities for formulating policies and legislative actions standardizing the pharmaceutical waste disposal management practices in the Philippines.</subfield>
