<subfield code="a">With the existing environmental condition in the industry under - the Camara Steel Industries, involved in the making of drums of specific sizes, the objective of this study is to examine the clinical effect of the industrial fumes and chemicals on the tooth surface of the industrial workers such as hydrochlous acid, nitric acid and potassium cyanide: to know the measures promulgated by the company in safeguarding the workers against these fumes and chemicals: and to recommend additional health measures regarding the dental condition on the workers. A total of 54 industrial male workers were examined orally for the presence of dental defects such as etching, erosion and staining resulting from exposure to acid fumes. The study showed an increased occurence of erosion etching and staining resulting from acid fumes. The study showed an increase occurrence of labial enamel influenced by factors like lip level and length of exposure of these workers to the industrial fumes. The workers were given protective measures like hoods and masks as protection from harmful effects of acids, but these were not properly utilized. The protective measure employed by the company is adequate enough if properly used. There should be a yearly dental check-up and a prophylactic measure of topical fluoride application quarterly may prove beneficial.</subfield>
