   <subfield code="a">The study undertaken was meant to clear any doubt concerning the use of aluminum tubes in packaging fluoride toothpaste. It had already been previously established that the effectivity of a fluoride in solution is decreased when stored in glass or metal containers. Two experiment were done, the first to detect any presence of aluminum particles in locally packed fluoride toothpastes by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, and a second experiment to see if aluminum bonded to the free fluorides in the toothpaste so as to decrease their reactivity. The results showed that aluminum particles were indeed present but this did not significantly decreases the reactivity of the fluoride in the toothpaste. Thus, it was concluded that the aluminum packaging did not affect the preventive value of the locally packed fluoride toothpastes.</subfield>
