   <subfield code="a">The objective of the study is to determine the possibility of isolating fluoride from Eucheuma spinosum and its preparation into a topical fluoride solution. The subject, Eucheuma spinosum, a locally available edible seaweed was gathered in Bolinao, Pangasinan Two methods of sample preparation was done namely dried and fresh sample preparation. Fluoride extraction was then done using chemical extractants: chloform, methanol and distilled water. After which the fluoride ion present was determined using the Fluoride Ion Selective Electrode. Results showed that a considerable amount of fluoride can be isolated from the specimen and possible preparation of a topical fluoride solution can be done by increasing fluoride concentration through larger seaweed sample size and use of less amount of water.</subfield>
