(Adviser) LA - English UL - https://tuklas.up.edu.ph/Record/UP-1685523046125456140 AB - Clinical training of the UPCD Clinician is not limited to theory and technique, it also involves social interaction between the dentist and the patient. Among the factors in the dentist-patient relationship is personality, which can be one of the keys to a good clinical performance. The aim of the study is to determine if clinical performance of the UP College of Dentistry Clinicians SY 1999-2000 varies according to personality type and temperament All the UPCD Senior Clinicians were included in the study (N=56). To determine personality type and temperament, the UPCD Clinicians were individually given a Personality Test? based on the Myers-Briggs and Keirseian models of personality theory. To determine clinical performance, grades from the different sections were gathered from the student records. A chi-square test at significance level = .05 was used to analyze the relationship of personality type and temperament with clinical performance. Results showed that it is only in Oral Surgery (OS) where a statistically significant relationship exists between personality type and clinical performance as well as between temperament and clinical performance of UPCD Senior Clinicians SY 1999-2000. Subjects with an INTJ (Introversion-Intuition-Thinking-Judging) personality and an NT (Intuition-Thinking) temperament performed best in Oral Surgery. No statistically significant relationships were found when personality type and temperament were compared with clinical performance in Periodontics. Endodontics, Operative Dentistry and Prosthodontic sections. CN - LG 993.5 2000 D4 G35 KW - Dentistry : Practice : Study and teaching. ER -
