Phytochemical studies on Premna odorata Blanco (Family Verbenaceae)
Alagaw leaves contain a hygroscopic saponin of a saturated sterol or a triterpenoid and traces of tannin. The crude saponin when dissolved in water is slightly turbid which formed a honeycomb froth when shaken vigorously.
