Sinuri ng pag-aaral na ito ang mga diskurso sa OFW sa ilang pelikulang Pilipino mula 1980 hanggang 2017. Gamit ang teorya ng diskurso ni Michel Foucault na may tuon sa episteme, tinukoy ng mananaliksik ang mga sumusunod: (1) kasaysayang ng mga Pilipinong nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa, (2) epekto ng aspetong sosyal, kultural, pang-ekonomiya, at pulitikal sa mga ito, at (3) paano nagbago ang diskurso sa paglipas ng panahon, bilang laman ng mga pelikulang Pilipino.&#13;

Mula sa 51 naitalang pelikula, 45 ang napanood ng mananaliksik. Matapos tukuyin ang diskurso sa bawat pelikula, isinagawa ang periodization upang matukoy ang iba't ibang panahon sa kasaysayan ng mga overseas worker. Sa tulong ng mga literatura, balita, at mga polisiya, apat na yugto sa kasaysayan ng pelikulang Pilipino ang natukoy: (1) 1980-1986: mga diskurso ni Gil M. Portes sa overseas workers, (2) 1993-1998: mga diskurso ng pagkabagabag ng OCW, (3) 2000: diskurso sa kaganapan ng inang OFW, at (4) 2001-2017: mga diskurso at counter-discourse sa OFW.&#13;

Natukoy ng mananaliksik na ang apat na yugtong ito ay nasa ilalim lang ng iisang episteme dahil hindi maihihiwalay ang kaalaman, kasaysayan, at kapangyarihan mula 1980 hanggang 2017 dahil konektado sa isa't isa ang mga pangyayari sa kasaysayan ng OFW. Bukod dito, mayroong dalawang mukha ang episteme: ang pagkapit ng overseas workers sa pangakong magandang kinabukasan ang kanilang mararanasan sa pagpunta sa ibang bansa at sa pag kapit ng gobyerno sa mga OFQ para maiahon o maisalba ang ekonomiya ang Pilipinas. Piniling maging bulag ng gobyerno sa tunay na suliraning kinahaharap ng OFW. Hangga't hindi nagkakaroon ng trabahong magbibigay ng sapat na sweldo sa mga Pilipino, hindi mabubuwag ang pagkapit sa patalim ng isa't isa-ng gobyerno at OFW.&#13;

Dahil nakapagbigay at nakapagsuri ang mananaliksik ng mga diskursong nangingibabaw tungkol sa mga overseas worker, ang mga natukoy ay maaring maging tuntungan para sa mas malalim pang pagsusuri sa mga ispesipikong diskurso. Bukod sa pelikula, maari ring pag-aralan ang kasaysayan ng OFW sa telebisyon.&#13;

   <subfield code="a">Abstract&#13;
This study analyzed the different discourses on OFWs in selected Filipino films from 1980 until 2017. Using Michel Foucault's theory on discourse analysis with emphasis on the episteme, the study identified the following content in Filipino films: (1) evident discourses on the overseas worker, (2) effect of the social, cultural, economic, and political aspects of society on the discourses, and (3) how the discourse changed over the years. &#13;
&#13;
From a list of 51 films, the researcher was able to view 45 of them. After identifying the evident discourse in each film, the researcher periodized the films to identify the different sub-eras of the history of the overseas worker. With the help of literature, news, and review of the government policies, four periods in the history of Philippine cinema were identified: (1) 1980-1986: discourse of Gil M. Portes on the overseas worker, (2) 1993-1998: discourse on the distress of the OCW, (3) 2000: discourse on the fulfillment of an OFW mother, and (4) 2001-2017: discourse and counter-discourse on the OFW.&#13;
&#13;
The researcher identified that these 4 periods are all under one episteme since knowledge, history and history from 1980 until 2017 are interconnected. The episteme has also two different faces: reliance of the OFW on the promise of a better life by working abroad and the reliance of the government on the remittances of the OFW to save a drowning economy. The government still remains blinded on the real plight of the OFW. Until Filipinos are not given jobs that could support them financially, both the government and the OFW could never break free from the troubles u by migration. &#13;
&#13;
The researchers recommends a further study on the discourses that were identified that might be of help to the study of the OFW in media, through the analysis of materials produced for television.&#13;
